What People Say About Troy & Liz De Roche

A small, five note, bamboo flute with the clearest and purest tones, like a sweet waterfall of harmony flowing over me. I am taking it, trembling, and playing it. I have music in my soul that wants to come out. Yes, even this old lady! Thank you for this.
"Snow"

I and my wife had the great honor of meeting both of you at the Gathering of Tribes in Wenatchee Wa. We both ended up the proud owners of two of your beautiful flutes one a single 5 hole flute, the other a 6 hole aromatic double. I would love to tell you that they have changed me in a way that I would never have envisioned. I am 50 years young and never in my life played any musical instrument. You told me the best song is the one played from the heart. Truer words were never spoken. The songs I play feel like they flow out of my inner self. After playing I feel such a calm that I have never felt before. You touch so many hearts with the craft that you share with the world. I think of you ever time I have the pleasure of picking up my flute and playing.

"'The Eagle's Journey' is the best yet!! There is not one title on the CD that does not move your spirit."
B.K. Hamilton, Washington

"As I looked back at my home with the windows all lit and your music pouring out into the rain, it was like this place had become a church if you know what I mean. I knew you guys were special when you showed up here..."
T.L. Holualoa, Hawaii

"You are very talented, your music not only has soothing tones to the ear but has also enlightened the soul-As I listen I tend to drift to a great place, a better place, one of which has brought back my own heritage, the love for the land, my roots in the mountains that I left, with dreams of the day I will return..."
C.B. Pasco, Washington

"FIRST MOTHER is absolutely beautiful...you did a great job...Betty and I sat through the entire CD and hardly spoke a word to each other..."
B.K. Hamilton, Washington

"You have the rare ability to take others with you as you go. I had the pleasure of traveling through time as it is, as it was, and as it will be. The music will endure."
S.S. Littleton, Colorado

"The flute arrived safe and sound. It is beautiful. Troy, believe it or not, a few days ago I went into the woods (still plenty of snow) and sat by one of my favorite trees and began to play the flute, when I was done playing I opened my eyes and there was a red squirrel and a chipmunk sitting not 8 feet away almost as if they were watching a concert."
G.C. Chester, New Hampshire.

Recording Reviews

EAGLE'S JOURNEY
The flute work is lovely, haunting elegant and peaceful as in the title cut. This is a CD, almost like a classical suite, dedicated to the path of the Eagle as seen through Native American traditional and spiritual eyes, It also celebrates the influence that the Eagle has on the land, the people, and the spirits. Great concept, very well executed, with delicate extended phrasing that stays with you for a long time.

LISTEN, MY PEOPLE!
De Roche is the epitome of pure beauty in sound. All transport you in a clear precise and a passionate flute voice that moves clearly from inner soul stirrings. Quite moving.

FIRST MOTHER
It begs you to learn and hear more as they weave through how the flute was taken up by young men to court, or how the mice took over, how the bluebird and coyote talked or "Why People Die Forever". Take on the moon, the stars, animals, field crops and find out where "Garter Snake Got His Stripes". This is excellent for storytelling for young or old at festivals, fairs, for main stage breaks and of course powwows.
